'Meet the Mormons' Movie Opens in Fiji

SUVA, FIJI —

"Meet the Mormons," a new documentary about members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, opened in Fiji last Thursday.

Government, faith, media and other guests attended a premiere screening at Damodar Premium Theatre in Suva, 18 February 2015.

"Meet the Mormons" examines the diverse lives of six members of the Church living in the United States, Costa Rica and Nepal.

Mrs Sulu Kama, spokesperson for the Church in Fiji, said the movie was well received and the audience showed their pleasure by clapping at the conclusion of the screening.

Mrs Rosy Akbar, Fiji's Minister for Women, who attended with her daughter, said, "It was one of the best movies in recent times."

“The key message of this movie was ‘service before self’ and it was a timely message for society and everyone should watch it,” she said.

Member of Parliament, Dr Brij Lal, said, “Viewing the film has widened my thinking and understanding. We appreciate the work done by members of your church worldwide.”

“I loved the movie,” Afea of Fiji TV said as she exited the theatre. She said discussions will be held with Fiji TV management with respect to the possible screening of the movie on a Sunday afternoon.

Last week Mrs Kama was interviewed about the movie on Radio Fiji One. She said the movie had been rated “G” in Fiji and is for all family members, young and old.

"The movie tells the stories of six ordinary members of the Church doing extraordinary things in their lives," she said. "It shares their successes, challenges and especially their faith in God and their commitment to the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ."

The movie will show at Village 6 and Village 4 cinemas in Suva over the coming week:

Net proceeds from the movie screenings will be donated to Diabetes Fiji.

Radio Interview on "Meet the Mormons" Movie

Suva - 

In preparation for the launching of the new movie “Meet the Mormons “in Fiji on Wednesday 18 of February, National Public Affairs Director Sulueti Kama was a guest at the local radio station, Radio Fiji One, to talk about the launching of the movie and its planned screening in Fiji by Damodar Cinemas.

She said that this movie had been rated “G” in Fiji and is for all family members, young and old. “This movie aims at sharing with people that the Mormons are just ordinary people like everyone .

The movie tells the stories of six ordinary members of the church doing extraordinary things in their lives. It shared their successes, challenges and especially their faith in God and their commitment to the teachings of the Gospel.

This is a must see movie and dates for screening to the public at the Village 6 and Village 4 cinemas will be released by Damodar Events on the week of 26 February.

Meet the Mormons Movie is Finally in Fiji

Suva, Fiji -

The movie “Meet the Mormons” movie is finally in Fiji and will be released this week. There will be a private launching to invited guests and key opinion leaders on Wednesday 18 February at the Premium Cinema in Damodar City . This will be followed by a number of screenings at Village 6 in Suva and village 4 in Lautoka. These screenings will be advertised by Damodar Events in the newspapers this week.

In March this movie will be made available to Stakes to screen it and this will be announced in your stakes once dates and times are finalized with the Stake President.

The movie was one of the top ten movies in the US when it was released.
